Nov 13, 1930 — Jul 22, 2025
Winchester
WILMA RUTH BERRYHILL RAY, age 94 of Winchester, Tenn., departed this life at her residence on July 22, 2025, with her loving family at her side. Ms. Ray was born in Winchester, Tenn., to the late H.L. Berryhill and Mary Jane Gipson Berryhill on November 13, 1930. She was a charter member of the Oaklawn Baptist Church in Winchester. She served in many capacities at the Church during her lifetime. She was on many different committees at the church; she sang in the Choir and taught Sunday School for over 35 years. Because she loved children she gave to many children's organizations and made many baby blankets over the years for the new babies at Oaklawn. She hardly ever missed church unless she was sick and then she didn't want to stay home. Ms. Ray was known for her rock candy she made at Christmas and enjoyed teaching others how to make it. Most of all Ms. Ray will be remembered as a woman that Loved her Lord and her Church family.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Ray was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Wayland Ray, granddaughter, Jennifer Perry, sister, Ruby Silvia and brother-in-law, Tony Silvia, brothers; Jack and Lonnie Berryhill; sister-in-law, Ruby Berryhill and daughter-in-law, Joyce Ray.
She is survived by her children, Ricky Ray and friend; Sandra, Rita Perry and husband, Larry all of Winchester. Grandchildren; Adam Ray of Connecticut, Renae Sharpe and husband, Donald of Decherd. Great-grandchildren; Madeline and Mallory Cunningham, Camryn, John Carter and Spencer Ray.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Sunday, July 27 at 4 PM at Oaklawn Baptist Church, 108 Memorial Drive, Winchester, TN with burial to follow at Mt. Garner Cemetery in Decherd. The family will receive friends from 2 PM until the service time at the church.
The family would like to thank the staff of Gentiva Hospice and all her friends and family who visited with her.
