SUSAN JEAN FOWLER GIFFORD, age 69, of Cowan, Tenn., departed this life on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the home of her sister in Murfreesboro, Tenn. after a brave battle with cancer.  Ms. Gifford was born in Smyrna, Tenn., to the late Melvin and Virginia Cates Fowler.  She was the ninth of ten children.  Susan graduated from Huntland High School.   She was employed for approximately 10 years at the Wal-Mart store in Winchester as a Customer Service Manager. Susan was a member of the Keith Springs Baptist Church. Susan was a quiet and friendly person that enjoyed being with her family.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her beloved son, James Aaron Gifford, brothers, Kenneth and Jerry Fowler and a sister, Margaret Putnam.  She is survived by her beloved son, Jonathan Eric Gifford, grandsons: Jacob, Joshua, Joseph and Justin Gifford and a granddaughter, Abigail Nevaeh Gifford, who was raised by Susan, her Nani.  Susan is also survived by her brothers: Doyle and Glenn Fowler and sisters, Nina Merritt, Patsy Smith, Kathie Meadow and Gay Hannah.

A Graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 2, at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Belvidere with family serving as Pallbearers.
