Obituary

Scott Anthony Grover, age 53, of Winchester, passed away March 9, 2024, at Alvin C. York V.A. Hospital, Nashville, TN. He was born July 12, 1970, to Sammie Kay Hershman, and the late Earl Charles Grover, Jr.  During middle and high school he was in the band, playing slide trombone, and loved music his entire life. Before he graduated in May 1989, he told his mother he had joined the Navy and began his training that October at the Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL. Having worked at KFC during his high school years, he followed food service into the Navy and while on board the USS Concord (supply ship) he prepared the meals for the officers on board. He had two favorite countries he visited during his deployment from Norfolk, VA, Greece and Italy.  He had also been stationed on the USS Eisenhower. After leaving the Navy he took advantage of the GI Bill and studied culinary arts at Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island. He worked at many facilities in food service after his graduation, his last was Food Service Manager at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN. He became legally blind in 2003, thus having to give up his job. He sorely missed working and told his mother often he appreciated the work ethic instilled in he and his sister.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Scott is survived by his mother, Kay Hershman, of Winchester, Son, Brennon Grover, Williamsburg, VA. and sister, Lisa Grover (Chad) Shepherd of Winchester, Niece, Chloe Shepherd, and nephew, Colby Shepherd along with several cousins.
