SARA LYNNE FARIS KING, age 91, of Winchester, Tenn., departed this life on Friday, August 25, 2023, at her residence following an extended illness.  Mrs. King was born in Winchester, Tenn., to the late Thomas Atkerson Faris and Louie Holder Faris on April 17, 1932.  Mrs. King is a 47-year member of the Decherd First United Methodist Church.  She was employed as Office Manager for Dr. Reynolds Fite for approximately 16 years until his retirement. She was a homemaker for several years and was able to help take care of her mother and several family members that were sick or bedridden when she was younger and not working. She was then employed by the Franklin County School Board as a Materials Clerk and then School Bus Director.  She was then employed at the Herald-Chronicle in Winchester where she was employed as a receptionist until her retirement. She loved to sew and made a lot of her own clothes.  Mrs. King always loved to travel and never got to do a lot.  In the past several years she enjoyed going to eat out with her sons.  When she became unable to get out very much, she enjoyed watching her westerns on T.V.  She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, and mother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Harry Doddridge King, Jr.  She is survived by her sons; David King and Greg King both of Winchester.  Several nieces, nephews, cousins and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation for Mrs. King will be held from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening, August 30, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services.

Services for Mrs. King will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 31, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services.

Interment will follow in the Winchester Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Harry.
