ROBERT EUGENE PANTER, age 87, of Estill Springs, Tenn., departed this life on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Erlanger Health System Chattanooga, following a brief illness.  Mr. Panter was born in Estill Springs, Tenn., to the late Henry W. Panter and Bessie Davis Panter on October 30, 1931.  Mr. Panter's first job was at the early age of 10 delivering newspapers, he would get up at 4:00 A.M. and ride his bike to pick the papers up and roll all of them and then deliver them to help support the family.  Mr. Panter was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He owned and operated Panter's Garage and Auto Parts, for 63 years. Mr. Panter was a member of the Estill Springs First Baptist Church.  His hobbies were stock car racing, fishing and square dancing. He will be remembered for his kind, gentle and caring ways.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Panter was prececed in death by his wife of 63 years, Betty Hargrove Panter.  He is survived by his sons; David Panter, Sr., and wife, Mitzie, of Estill Springs, Mike Panter and wife, Nancy of Winchester. Grandchildren; Kelly (William) Foster of Belvidere, David (Yalibeth) Panter, Jr. of Nashville, Stephanie (Jeremy) Davis of Estill Springs, Megan (Dan) Chiriboga of Alexandria, Va., Jordan (Amanda) Panter of Decherd. Great-grandchildren; Chase Vickers, Gini Chiriboga and Ashlyn Davis, Great-great-grandchildren; Isabella Vickers and Cash Vickers. Special friend, Lurline Neal of Estill Springs, Tenn.

Visitation for Mr. Panter will be held from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Monday evening, October 21, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services.  Services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 22, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Bro. Jayson Faulkner, officiating.  Interment will follow in the Franklin Memorial Gardens, Winchester with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
