NINA SUE STEAKLEY PAYNE, age 94, of Huntland, Tenn., departed this life on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Betty's Place in Huntland, Tenn., following an extended illness.  Mrs. Payne was born in Huntland, Tenn., to the late Louis Steakley and Mattie Pulliam Steakley.  She was a dedicated member of Huntland Church of Christ before becoming unable to attend services.  She was employed for approximately 35 years with the City of Huntland as the Water Dept. Administrator.  She always had a pleasant smile for everyone.  Her hobbies were cooking, gardening, walking and working in her yard.  She will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving and caring mother and wife.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Payne was preceded in death in 2020 by her husband, Royce Payne.  Brothers; Louis Steakley, Jr. and Moon Steakley, and one sister, Ruth Steakley.

She is survived by her sons; Dr. Mike Payne of Murfreesboro and Randy Payne of Tullahoma.

A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 25, at 1:00 P.M. at McClure Cemetery in Huntland with Bro. Kyle Macon, officiating.
