Mary Edith Elliott Grisard, 88, passed away on Tuesday, August 10th, 2021, surrounded by family and caregivers at her residence at Franklin Manor in Winchester, Tennessee.  She was born in Cleveland, Tennessee, on January 29, 1933 to the late William T. Elliott and Prayse Mashburn Elliott. Her family moved to St. Elmo, Tennessee when she was in elementary school and later to Oak Ridge, Tennessee where she graduated from Oak Ridge High School. She went to work at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory where she met her husband, Frank. After they married, they moved to Coffee County in 1955 when Frank went to work at Arnold Engineering Development Center and they remained there until 1991, when they retired to Winchester, TN.  Mary was affectionately known as "Nano" to her grandchildren and their friends and spent many hours chauffeuring them around to various sports and activities. She loved her coffee, hairspray, and cigarettes, listening to her police scanner, taking her dogs with her to Walmart, shopping on QVC, and getting her hair done every week by Alisa at Divine Salon. She was happiest when she was getting away with mischief, decorating, watching Cops with her dogs, working on her many potted plants, playing Chinese Checkers, and playing bridge with longtime friends Faye Wells and the late Dr. Jesse and Martha Overall of Manchester.  The family would like to say an extra special thank you to Executive Director Kim Gulley and the excellent nurses and staff at Franklin Manor Senior Living Center in Winchester, TN, for their loving care of their mother/grandmother for the past 5+ years. Without their devotion to her health and well-being, they know they wouldn't have had those extra years with her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hughes Grisard.  She is survived by her Children; Sarah Sherrill (Frank) Pitts of Smyrna, Tenn, Nancy Grisard (David) Zimmerman of Decherd, Tenn., William Thomas (Lynn) Grisard of Manchester, Tenn.

A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on August 21st at Watson-North Memorial Park in Winchester, Tenn. with Rev. Wanda Spencer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Animal Harbor, P.O. Box 187, Winchester, TN 37398.

The family requests mask be worn to attend the service and to please observe six foot distancing.
