MARY HELEN BATTS of Tullahoma passed this life on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville at the age of 80. A native of Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Mary Frances Sanders McPheron. Mrs. Batts was a graduate of Franklin County High School and she worked for many years as a Quality Inspector at TN Apparel. She loved Christmas and enjoyed working crossword puzzles.  She enjoyed watching TV mystery shows with her favorites being Perry Mason and Ironside. She was a member of the Estill Springs Church of God. She faithfully read her Bible and loved being with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Phillip Batts; brothers, James Earl and Don McPheron and sister, Nettie May.

Mrs. Batts is survived by her sons, James Michael Batts of Anchorage, Alaska and Mark Batts of Tullahoma; daughter, Dana Griffin of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Caleb, Jacob, Joshua, Andrew and Mathew (Maclay) Batts, Destanee' Batts, Karlee Griffin and Megan Williams; brothers, Ronnie McPheron and David McPheron (Peala), both of Tullahoma and Carl McPheron (Anita) of Estill Springs; sisters, Sue Knight (Grady) and Linda Perry, both of Tullahoma and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services are scheduled for Friday, July 17 at 2 PM at Grant Funeral Services, LLC with burial to follow at New Awalt Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 PM till the service time.
