Obituary

MARTHA JEAN MILLER FLYNN, age 97, of Estill Springs, Tenn., departed this life on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at the home of her daughter following an extended illness.  She was born in Marysville, Ohio, on September 29, 1920, to the late John W. Miller and Emma Richardson Miller.  Ms. Flynn was born on the very day radio became commercial and born into what is known as "The greatest generation" having grown up in the midst of the Great Depression, 1929-1942 and WWII, 1939-1945.  Ms. Flynn moved to Zanesville, Ohio around the age of 17 where she later met her great love, Leonard Flynn, by chance, due to Leonard being nothing but chivalrous.  They were later married around 1941 and so very in love for 50 plus years, enjoying their wonderful family together until Leonard's passing December 24, 1992.  She was an amazing and strong woman who was sweet, loving gentle and unassuming and always had the best interest of her family at heart.  She worked very hard to make all of those around her happy and she loved unconditionally.  Her family knew she loved them especially when they would say, "I love you" to her and her eyes would always well up with tears as she would say back, "I love you too".  She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was the one who taught us all about family the strongest bond of all.  Family was her entire life, from the day Leonard and she created their own family, right up to the day she took her last breath being surrounded by all of us; family and extended family, telling her how much we loved her.  Now she is resting; her active hands are now quiet.  She has entered into a better life, once again reunited with her greatest love, forever living eternal life with our Heavenly Father.  She will forever be in our hearts and remain with us as the generations carry on and we are tremendously blessed to be a part of her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by her sisters; Mildred, Margaret, Cecelia and Marjorie.  Her brothers; Floyd and Raymond Miller, Grandchildren; Robert Gregory Flynn and Robert Synder.  She is survived by her children; Carl R. (Brenda) Flynn of Winchester, Tenn., Diana (Raymond) Synder of Estill Springs, Terry Flynn of Winchester and Emma Wright of Corona, Cal.  7-Grandchildren; Jeffery and Kristine Flynn, Teresa, Mike  Snyder, Stevie and Jason Flynn and Charity Wright.  14-Great-grandchildren and 1-Great-Great-Grandchild.
