MARJORIE ELLEN YATES DAVIS, age 89, of Woodstock, Georgia, formerly of Huntland, Tenn., departed this life on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Brickmont Assisted Living in Woodstock following an extended illness.  Ms. Davis was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on January 28, 1937, to the late Robert William Yates and Anna Lou Ansel Yates.  She was a long-time member of the Donaldson Grove Baptist Church in Huntland and last attended Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta, Ga.  Ms. Davis was a secretary at Alfa Insurance Agency for 20 years before her retirement there.  She was then employed at the Franklin County Library where she worked for approximately 10 years.  In 2018, Ms. Davis relocated to be closer to her family in Georgia.

Ms. Davis was not one to sit idly by.  She did Missionary work in Taiwan, Belize and many other places.  She was a member of the Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief Team. She traveled to Texas, Iowa, Alaska and Georgia to mention a few.  She was still chainsaw certified at age 80 to operate a chain saw.  She loved working at Church in the nursery at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church and with the youth at Donaldson Grove Baptist Church as well as, teaching children and youth.  She enjoyed traveling and went on several cruises.  She enjoyed cross stitching and reading.

She was a loving and devoted Christian lady that loved her Lord and children and will be greatly missed by all.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, her sister, Sandra Baxter and her brother, Joseph Yates.

She is survived by her daughters; Cheryl Anderson and husband, Frank of Marietta, Ga., and Susan Davis of Cobb County, Ga.  Grandson, Leif Davis of Woodstock, Ga., step-grandchildren; Edward Stegall and wife, Amanda of Holly Springs, Ga., Rueben Anderson of Woodstock, Ga., and great-grandson, Caiden Davis, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 27, 2026, at Donaldson Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Hill, officiating.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M. at the Church.

Interment will follow services at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Huntland, Tenn.
