Obituary

Linda Gail Goodman was born on June 4, 1944 to Charles Edward Goodman and Lala Blanche Selman Goodman of Decherd, TN. At the age of 17, she married Ellis L. Goodman of Winchester, TN. They had 3 children who survive her, Troy Ellis Goodman (Paula) of Winchester, TN and their 3 children,  Amy M. Goodman (Austin, TX), Leslie R. Goodman Lowe (Keith) of Cowan, TN and great granddaughter Amelia Lynn Goodman Lowe, and Cory B. Goodman (Birmingham, AL). Also surviving is Traci D. Goodman of Winchester, TN and her boys Harley Goodman Burt and Dillan R. Clark, both who live in Chattanooga, TN. Tony Brent Goodman and wife Shirley Bennett Goodman of Decherd, TN and Tony's son Thomas Brent Goodman of Nashville, TN, as well as several step-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brothers Dr. Charles Edward Goodman (Delia) of Milton, TN, their 5 children and numerous grandchildren, Dr. James Franklin Goodman (Melinda), their 3 children and grandchildren and Robert S. Goodman (Daughter Valarie Goodman Sumner) and wife Carol of Athens, TN and their 4 children and grandchild.  In addition, Linda is survived by 2 of her sister's children and grandchildren as well as numerous other "family" and people who loved her. Linda is preceded in death by both of her parents as well as her Sister-Judy Cheryl Goodman, Nephew-Trevor Bennett and her Niece-Tammy Bennett Powers as well as several Aunts and Uncles, Cousins and Friends. She is survived by Judy's children Travis Bennett and Trey Rhoton. At age 17, Linda opened Decherd Florist & Gifts on Main St until later relocating to Winchester, TN and renaming her business Linda's Florist and Bridal. She enjoyed her business for 20 years, collecting friends, arranging florals, designing homes, hosting parties and coordinating weddings for so many clients.  Needless to say, SHE LOVED FRESH FLOWERS…especially IRIS! She and Ellis divorced in 1985 but remained great friends, making visits and holidays easy for everyone to enjoy family time together over the years.  Linda then went back to school to obtain several degrees, starting at Norvel Hayes Bible College in Cleveland, Tn, her Bachelor's at Oral Robert's University in Tulsa, OK, (where she remarried, but later divorced Lester C. Smith of MA) and finally, she earned two (2) Master's Degrees from Regent University in Norfolk, VA.  She had opportunities to travel internationally on multiple mission trips as well as design many weddings for her professional colleagues and friends abroad.  She was a resident of Sandbridge, VA, a Beach community where her family visited often and enjoyed summer vacations.  She hosted many people at her home called "INN HIS PRESENCE" to include Diplomats from other countries, numerous friends and Bible Studies before moving into the city of Virginia Beach, VA in 2008.  She went to work at Union Mission Ministries as the "Donor Relations Specialist" where she loved her job. She was a long time member of Sandbridge Methodist Chapel in Sandbridge, VA.  Linda re-located to Franklin County in November of 2019. She and her daughter Traci share a home next door to her oldest son Troy and wife Paula, where her beach house sign "INN HIS PRESENCE" hangs as the backdrop to one of her flower beds.  She always said the thing she loved most about the house was "her neighbors".  Linda and her children, grandchildren and precious little great grandchild (Princess Amelia..who came over often just to "check on her Ninna") and numerous friends packed so many wonderful family dinners, parties and special moments into a short period of time at her home on Dogwood Lane.  She always made everyone feel instantly welcome and she loved for people to visit.  She was a lovely and gracious lady with bright twinkly amber eyes and a contagious smile…beautiful inside and out.   From sharing a cup of coffee to a fancy dinner party, she loved every moment, especially "Sundays at Mom Peg's" where Ellis' Mother Peggy R. Goodman (96) continues to cook dinner and host her family for a day of home cooked food and fellowship.  Linda will be missed and so fondly remembered by her Family and so many precious friends.  She left a mark on the heart of everyone who ever knew her.  She had some ongoing health issues since 2012 and an intensive back surgery in June of 2020.  She passed from complications in her home on August 5 th , 2020.  There will be a private service at her home at a later date for family and close friends.   She wishes to be scattered among her beautiful rose bushes outside her bedroom window so that in a way, she remains home with her family.  With Linda's passing, her family and friends lost a lot, but in knowing her, they gained so much more. If you wish to send a card or fresh flowers or flowers to be planted,  you may do so to 122 Dogwood Lane Winchester, TN 37398.  They will be shared and distributed in her honor among her family.  Obituary by her daughter.
