Judy Hill
Burch
Sep 18, 1941 — Mar 11, 2022
Judy Moore Hill Burch, age 80, entered her heavenly home on March 11, 2022. She was born September 18, 1941 at home in the Oak Grove Community in Decherd, TN to the late Albert and Sadie Gipson Hill. She was a faithful member of the Shady Grove Church of the Nazarene and had attended there, in her words, "since she was born". She served as church secretary for 62 years. Mrs. Burch started her career at the Hat Factory soon after graduation in 1959, where she was crowned Miss. Dobbs in the early 60's. After being laid off at the Hat Factory, she stayed at home and took care of her precious daughters. She returned to work at Lanier Clothes at the main plant then moved to the Lanier Warehouse in the office. She was then employed at the Franklin County Sheriff's Department as the Sheriff's Secretary. She served under Sheriff Teddy McCallie, Sheriff Mike Foster, and Sheriff Tim Fuller. She retired from this position in December 2015.
Judy loved her family very much! She loved to cook and gave every meal that loving touch. She loved cooking for her family after church on Sunday and every holiday. She made the best chicken and dressing. Judy loved Elvis and Tom Brady! Her homage to them in the "yellow" bedroom was outstanding. Elvis was her favorite singer of all time. She also loved to watch Tom Brady play football, even though her family gave her a hard time about it. Friday nights were spent with Wayne and Shirley, going out to eat at their favorite restaurants. She loved to watch her babies, Dawson and Piper, who she kept until they started pre-school. She once said that the best part of being a mother was becoming a grandmother or Mimi as the kids called her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Brothers; Preston, Claude, Cheatem, and Frenchy Hill, Sisters; Dollie Hill, Jennie Ruth Williams, Polly Church, and Jerry Boyd.
She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband, Sherrel of Decherd, TN. They were 5 days shy of celebrating their 60 th wedding anniversary.
