Ingrid Simon Templeton York passed this life on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at the Elk River Health and Nursing Center of Winchester at the age of 83. Mrs. York was born on April 12, 1942 in Forchheim, Germany, the daughter of the late Elly Simon Schwandke.

Mrs. York worked as a Nurses Aide at the Waters of Winchester and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winchester. She loved growing flowers and gardening and volunteering at the Southern TN Medical Center Gift Shop. She was an avid reader enjoyed visiting with her German friends and going to lunch with them once a month.  She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, James F. York; brother, Klaus Schwandke; and aunt, Gertrude Schwandke.

Mrs. York is survived by her children, Ilona S. Morrissey of Dudley, NC, Helen E. Templeton Johnson of Murfreesboro, TN and James O. Templeton IV of Tracy City, TN; grandchildren, Emily D. Johnson Foster of Pulaski, TN and Amber N. Johnson of Shelbyville, TN , and Thomas Morrissey and great grandchildren, Brayden L. Johnson, Brantley S. Gaither and Orion Coll and several cousins from Germany.

The family would like to thank her physicians, the staff at Southern TN Regional Medical Center and the staff at Elk River Health and Nursing Center for the compassionate care she received.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in her memory to the Franklin County Library or the Animal Harbor.

Private services are scheduled.
