HAROLD ALEXANDER SHORT SR., age 74, of Sewanee, TN, departed this life on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at his residence, following an extended illness. He was born in Sewanee, TN to the late Ruben and Margaret Garner Short on July 28, 1943. He was a member of New Beginnings Church in Monteagle, Tenn., Mr. Short was employed for close to 50 years as a welder. He had a way with animals of all kinds and raised numerous orphaned wild animals. His favorite pastime was taking "Jack" for coffee with his friends at "The Bullpen" in Cowan.

In addition to his parents he is proceeded in death by his grandson Isaiah Short, great grandson Jaxon Tiner, son-in-law, Raymond Luiz, and his brothers; Hansel Short, and Gordon Short. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Short of Sewanee, Tenn., Sons; Harold Jr. and Melissa Short of Sewanee, Tenn. and Michael Short of Decherd, Daughters; Catherine Luiz, Angela and Richard Sampley, and Daughter/Granddaughter, Shelbi Short, all of Sewanee, Tenn., Grandchildren; Savannah and Brandon Tiner, Alexanderia Short, Brandon Short, and Skylar Short, Great-Grandchildren; Chloe and Nym Tiner, Rylann Haney, Sister, Gloria Curtis, and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation with the family is scheduled for 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday September 18, 2017 in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services.
