ELFRIEDE "ELFIE" BERTE ZENETTI HARTING, age 87, of Estill Springs, Tenn., formerly of Berlin, Germany, departed this life at her residence on April 19, 2026, following an extended illness.  Ms. Harting was born in Berlin, Germany on December 13, 1938.  She moved to America when she met and married her first husband in 1965.  Ms. Harting was employed at the former Cain-Sloan Department Store which later was Castner-Knott and then Dillard's for approximately 30 years as a seamstress.  She loved sewing and made her own clothes at her home.  She loved cats.  Ms. Harting enjoyed working in her flower gardens.  She had a weakness for vanilla wafers and they were always her go to snack.  Ms. Harting loved to dance.  She met her late husband while dancing at the NCO Club in Tullahoma, He retired from the Air Force and they made Estill Springs their retirement home in 1987.  They were married until his death in 2022, a marriage that lasted over 30 years.  During her illness she could still do the twist in her wheelchair. Ms. Harting was preceded in death by her husband, Major William Harting.  She is survived by her "nieces" by marriage; Becky Bean (Gary) of Tullahoma and Penny Hutchison of Beech Grove, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Elna Howard of Winchester and special friend, Felicia Black of Winchester.

A Graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Franklin Memorial Gardens, Inc. with Chaplin Jerry Stewart, officiating. Ms. Harting will then be entombed beside her beloved husband, Major Harting.
