DORIS MARIE DARNELL, age 91, of Winchester, Tenn., departed this life on Friday, October 20, 2017, at Bailey Manor in Winchester, following an extended illness.  Ms. Darnell was born in Fayetteville, Tenn., to the late Author Virgil O'Neal and Viola Chapman O'Neal on November 23, 1925.  She was employed for many years as a nurse at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.  She was a member of the Goodletsville Church of Christ before moving to Winchester to be near her family.  She enjoyed cooking and gardening.  She was a loving Grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her children; Jerry Steelman and Jacqueline Broadbent.  She is survived by her grandchildren; Ty Broadbent and wife, Andrea of Winchester, Dede York and husband, Michael of Normandy, Kristan Pridgen and husband Rick of Franklin, Tenn., great-grandchildren; Tyler, Rachael, Austin, Brittany, and Blake Broadbent, Caleb, Caitlyn Cashion of Winchester, Jessica, John and James York, Sarah Grayson, and Regan Pridgen of Franklin.

Visitation for Ms. Darnell is scheduled for 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 22, 2017, in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services.  Services will begin at 3:00 P.M. immediately following the visitation with Bro. Mike Bibins, officiating.  Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma with Granddaughters serving as pallbearers.
