CHRITA JOAN BEARDEN EVANS, age 68, of Cowan, Tenn., departed this life at her residence on Monday, April 29, 2024.  She was born in Trenton, Georgia on July 2, 1955 and was the 9th child of 14 of the late Homer Bearden and Juanita Sargent Bearden.  Ms. Evans was a hard worker and worked on a dairy farm milking cows most of her life.  She loved to hunt, fish and ride 4-wheelers.  She especially loved to go camping with her family.  Ms. Evans enjoyed planting flowers in her yard and spoiling her pets.  One of her favorite past times was going to flea markets.  Ms. Evans last attended The House Church in Cowan, and was especially fond of Sister Stamey and the ladies of the church.  She will be greatly missed by her sons that kept her busy, "keeping them in line", as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Evans and son, Gary Dewayne Guffey.  She is survived by her sons, Gene Guffey of Winchester, Bobby (Gena) Guffey of Decherd and Shane Guffey of Cowan.  Brothers; Randall Bearden of Scottsboro, Ala., Paul Bearden of Okeechobee, Fla., Melvin Bearden of Sand Mtn., Ala., Tommy Bearden of Trenton, Ga., Sister, Kathy Kimsey of Kimball, Tenn., 8 Grandchildren;  Chace, Stormy, Gabriela, Dylan, Felicia, Jade, Quinton, II Guffey and 16 Great-grandchildren; Angel, Makella, Bailey, Axel, Vicki, Elizabeth, Molly, Isaac, Victoria, Alexandria, Hayden, Eliza Jo, Xander, Avery, Luna and Stella.

A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 30, at Cowan Montgomery Cemetery with Sister, Kathy Stamey, officiating where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Joe Evans.
